Process
Description of the OER creation and quality assurance process from ideation to publishing including the remuneration structure.
dTeach provides a platform to enable decentralized collaboration in the ideation and production of highest quality and always up to date Open Educational Resources (OER). Every activity in the collaboration process has a value and is remunerated automatically via smart contract.
The process in short
Ideation, Funding & Team Building - marketplace for projects and tenders + team-up
Content Drafting & Edition - creation and production of the OER to be
Scientific and Pedagogical Review - proof of scientific and peagogical quality
Media Design & Final Draft - contents meet design
Testing & Feedback - on site testing, feedback and voting
Last Edition - finalization of the masterpiece
Publication of the OER - the OER going live
The process in detail
1. Ideation, Funding & Team Building (Donor Pool / Creators Pool)
Just as every other creative process the dTeach process starts either with the ideation, the planning, the team building and the calculation of the financing of the project (Creators Pool) or (the other way around) with a tender and a fixed funding (Donor Pool). On the platform both Pools create and place assignments, requests, and opportunities respectively for the other side - this is where supply and demand of OER's are created. While the proposing actor sets the criteria for the project (see list below) and builds a team of collaborators, in this phase the projects can be transparently negociated both internally (creators team) and externally (creators with donors) regarding the timeline, the scope, and it's expenditures.
Project Criteria
topic
content
type of media
outline and structure
target and age group
pedagogic and learning goals
context
scope
workflow and timeline*
subject reference
adressed competences and skills
budget plan
*Every project has a strict timeline and if the previously set or negociated goals are met in time (e.g. shifted to the next phase of the process), the whole amount of the funding will be distributed automatically via smart contract.
Team-Up
Many resources can only be worked on in a team. The project owners can either 'assign' their 'partners in good' (team members) by:
adding existing dTeach users to the project
search for team members in the Creators Pool through announcements
send invitation link to possible team-members to sign-up for dTeach (considered as recommendation)
The Donor Pool provides the funding in cryptocurrency (ADA or dTeach Token*) and every actor participating in the process accepts them by connecting their Metamask-Wallet.
2. Content Drafting & Edition (Creators Pool)
This is where the resource creation process starts with the projects and ideas that found funding and the tenders that found workforce. Aligned with the OER guide and the content guide - projects and resources are drafted by a team (or individual) that either won the tender or received funding for their (her/his) project. Once finished the draft can be uploaded to the next stage (scientific and pedagogic proof).
The upload of the draft to the next phase does not yet trigger a money exchange. The financial compensation for a project will be automatically transferred when the OER is published (via smart contract).
3. Scientific & Pedagogical Review (Creators Pool)
In this phase the submitted draft is reviewed by eligible scientific and pedagogical experts of the respective field the drafted OER was developed for. Here both, the scientific correctness as well as the pedagogical quality of the OER are prooved and assured. The reviewed resources are uploaded to the next phase (final draft) as soon as the comments and editions have been commonly accepted by other members of the expert community (through a voting process).
Every activity on dTeach (from micro to macro), as for example the participation in a voting mecanism is rewarded. The users gain dTeach tokens on the go by fullfilling tasks - they are added to the prosumers dTeach wallet and once the wallet reaches a reasonable value (transaction fees) - can be swapped to other cryptocurrencies such as Ethereum (ETH).
4. Media Design & Final Draft (Creators Pool)
In this stage the creators (project owners) include the experts feedback and finalize the content of the educational resource. Depending on the type of OER the recource might need a professional design. In line with the style guide the project owners collaborate with the creative workforce (designers, illustrators, filmmakers etc.) to produce attractive and empowering teaching- and learning resources. As soon as all the conditions listed in the content- and the style guide are met, the final draft can be uploaded to the next phase to be tested by educators.
5. Testing & Feedback (Teachers Pool)
Educators and teachers take the final drafts uploaded and try them out in their respective educational facility/context. With every download the educators get a detailed feedback form to fill out after testing the resource. To guarantee that these feedbacks are useful and constructive, the feedbacks are voted on by the members of the Teachers Pool and the Creators Pool. To be uploaded to the next phase the project needs at least 5 highly ranked teachers feedbacks.
6. Last Edition (Creators Pool)
In this last collaboration phase the project owners incorporate the teachers feedback and thereby finalize the OER.
7. Publication of the OER (dTeach)
With the publication of the final OER on dTeach's OER EXCHANGE the content owners and everyone who contributed to the project will receive their share of the funding automatically transferred to their dTeach wallets.
